A deadly blast ripped through a Shia mosque packed with worshippers in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar during Friday prayers, killing at least 30 people, according to local reports.
Murtaza Zarifi, a security officer at the mosque, claimed the attack was carried out by two suicide bombers.
The attack also injured over 200 people.
Taliban forces cordoned off roads shortly after the explosion that took place days after the Daesh terror group claimed responsibility for a suicide attack targeting the Shia community in the Afghan province of Kunduz.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
The spokesman of the Interior Ministry under the Taliban administration, Saeed Khosti, also confirmed the incident, announcing in a statement that an investigation has been launched.
